Sunday Clinton River Report

The Clinton is holding low water but the stain was pretty good for today. Fished on and off for a few hours. Dave from Cali hooked up a carp and an angler apparently hooked a good sized steelhead late afternoon bottom bouncing spawn. The bite has been light with a few aggressive takes with the spin fisherman. Some of the regular guys were out today with no success but we had bluebird skies all day with good light penetration in a slightly stained system. This provides tough conditions especially when the fish are sparse. Have not heard of any fish landed this weekend atleast in close proximity to where we were fishing. Not much rain predicted in the extended forecast but it is always therapeutic IMHO to still get out and wet a line. The carp are in their usual spot and not very spooky but ultra selective on feeding. The right presented bait or fly may get them to go. A few salmon around further downstream and some old redds have been spotted with very few digs and new activity. Woodland Rivers is still providing 3 hour casting clinics on the Clinton if interested? The classes go over rigging, casting, reading water and presentation. We will run these til late November or as long as the weather holds out! For more info on these Casting/Fishing Clinics please click here:

All the best of action out there these fall days and enjoy the heat wave predicted for tomorrow with a high of 66. See you on the river!
