Bull trout

Has anyone caught a Bull trout and if so, how do they fight?

Bull trout

Caught several in British Columbia one year, all about 10" - 12". My impression was they were similar to catching Rainbows.

One day however I was playing a Cut about 12" long that suddenly really jacked up his dashes. A Bull about 24" had appeared from who knows where
and started chasing the hooked Cut. Was really hoping he would catch up with the the smaller guy & decide to eat him. As luck would have it, he tired of the chase, was scared away by the line or whatever. Wasn't too disappointed, watching the chase provided plenty of excitement.

Incidentally, I envy you guys having all that Steelhead fishing in the MW.
You probably have many experiences like the one I just described, plus the
opportunity of catch many Steels. Far cry from the days many years ago when all that was available in So LM was perch. :D

Great story! We are very fortunate to have lake run steelhead to play with. Still love to catch a Bull though as its one of a few trout I have never caught.
