I can't speak for the Michigan waters, but as far as the central basin of Lake Erie is concerned; they are here to stay.
When they were first found there was a great concern that they would infest the waters and disrupt the natural ecology.
Well, in the last decade anglers have grown to love them, and the Gobys (no, not you Steve!). The Zebra mussels have become a valuable addition to the food chain. Gobys have become one of the Smallmouth Basses favorite things to eat, and word has it that Walleye like them too.
Things happen for a reason, and the fishing in Lake Erie has certainly increased with the intorduction of these two foreign species.
Tight lines!
